Our Pistol Program is the core course we offer. We have divided the levels into 1 through 3, with each module addressing a different aspect of gun handling and marksmanship. TAC-1's Combat Triad and its elements are thoroughly covered across these three levels. Each student must learn each step appropriately to master the art of pistol shooting.
This introductory course is designed to teach defensive pistol shooting to beginners and to those who have never received formal training. The class will educate students on basic firearm safety, firearms law, use-of-force doctrine, fundamentals of semi-automatic handgun operation, and help develop their basic marksmanship skills. The Pistol-I module is now a 16-hour program divided into two 8-hour courses: Pistol-I(a) and Pistol-I(b).

Pistol-2 is divided into four basic phases (A, B, C, and D). Each phase teaches students essential handgun fundamentals and advanced techniques necessary for law enforcement and personal/home defense applications. The course reviews and expands on safety aspects both on and off the range, combat mindset, elements of pistol marksmanship, and up-to-date tactical shooting concepts.
This course covers advanced handgun techniques that require a higher skill level to participate and maintain a safe range. Students will practice all aspects of high-speed weapon manipulation using one- and two-handed operation at distances ranging from extreme close quarters to long-range shooting. Scenarios will be provided to students for problem-solving exercises.
With the rising popularity and increased adoption of red dot sights (RDS) among both civilians and law enforcement, TAC-1 has developed a comprehensive class to introduce the concepts behind pistols equipped with red dot sights and their effective operation. This class is designed to help shooters transition to the effective use of red dot sights on pistols. The following techniques and concepts will be presented at a manageable pace to maximize retention.

Designed to introduce police academy candidates to the fundamentals of law enforcement firearms training and techniques, this course prepares them to excel in the academy. Candidates attending this course do not need to be competent shooters—just willing to learn. The course is intended for individuals who require a basic introduction to handgun safety, operation, and marksmanship, as taught in police academies nationwide. Pistol and gear are included.

Safe Start is a response to the public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new shooters. This 4 hour (per phase) introductory course is for the individual who is unfamiliar with safe handling of handguns and legal aspect of owning a firearm. Safe Start is divided in to 2 phases: classroom & live-fire range.

TAC-1 CCW training is a course design to enhance skill set for those already carrying their handgun. We also offer CCW certification course for Ventura County Ventura County residents. Students will learn the required training in firearm safety and the law of the permissible use of a firearm.

Pistol Training Workshop is an unique class designed as a skill builder for those who had previously taken TAC-1 Pistol-I module or equivalent. The 4 hr. handgun workshop will review techniques that were already instructed in prior courses.
